Best of Taiwan – 5 days
(June 17 – 22, 2021)
Let's start our 5 day tour on the Taiwanese island
from Taipei to the Sun Moon lake, Wenwu Temple, the Holy Monk Shrine and Tse-En
Pagoda. We will visit the Monastery of Fo Guang Shan and the night market of
Kaohsiung, we will explore the beautiful Kenting National Park and we will
continue our journey along Taitung’s East Coast National Scenic Area, to reach
Hualien and the famous and stunning Taroko Gorge.
JUNE 17 -
TAIPEI - SUN MOON LAKE
- This morning we will depart from Taipei and head south to the heart
of the island: Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area, with the biggest freshwater
lake in the island. We will then have our lunch break in Yidashao and after
lunch we will visit the Xuanzhuang Temple, the best place to enjoy the quiet
atmosphere of this area, the Ci´en Pagoda and the Wenwu Temple, where people
pray the Civil Saint of Confucius, the Military Saint of Guangong, and the
Established God of two temples in the temple.

JUNE 18 - SUN MOON LAKE - FO GUANG SHAN - KAOHSIUNG
- Today we will enjoy a pleasant walk around Xiangshang Visitor
Center, a unique building that allows to enjoy the beautiful views of Sun Moon
Lake from the top. After lunch we will depart for Kaohsiung, the most populated
city in South Taiwan and known for being a romantic harbour city. We will visit
the Fo Guang Shan monastery, famous for the huge statue of Buddha Amitabha in
gold colour that can be spotted from miles away. After visiting the temple, we
will move to the centre of the city for dinner.
- ☛ Get ready for some traditional Taiwanese street food at the Liuhe
Night Market, the oldest and most typical night market in Kaohsiung. Why not
try the city’s signature street foods like the seafood congee, the steamed
salted shrimps, the papaya milk drink, the rice cake, or the famous stinky
tofu?

JUNE 19 -
KAOHSIUNG – KENTING - TAITUNG
- Today will head south to Kenting National Park, known for its
coastal geographical features and marine biodiversity. We will visit the
Eluanbi Lighthouse, known as "Taiwan's Tail" and Maobitou Park
Maopitou, a unique natural rock formation that from distance, it looks like a
giant crouching cat. After lunch we will visit the Longpan Park, a coral
limestone tableland eroded by rainwater that keeps the original features of the
landscape with wide grassland and faces the Pacific Ocean.

JUNE 20 - TAITUNG - EAST
COAST NATIONAL SCENIC AREA – HUALIEN
- Today, we will travel along the east coast, the unspoiled side of
the island filled with picturesque places of natural and human features. We
will visit Xiaoyeliu, famous for its rock formations, the famous cross-sea
bridge of Sanxiantai, Shitiping before stopping in Fanshuliao, a little unique
canyon.

JUNE 21 -
HUALIEN - TAROKO – TAIPEI
- After breakfast, we will visit the most spectacular place in Taiwan,
also the largest marble canyon in the world: Taroko National Park. We will take
a walk along Shakadang Trail or Lushui Trail, where the crystal-clear blue
water of Liwu River is running beside you. This river has cut through the
marble over millions of years, and created the deep, narrow gorge. Then we will
visit the Eternal Spring Shrine, which commemorates the 226 military veterans
who died during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway before
enjoying the stunning views of the cliffs by walking through the tunnel of
Swallow Grotto.
- After lunch, we will stroll around Tianxiang and see the Cihmu
Bridge before leaving for Qingshui Cliff to admire the scenery of the coastline
and head back to Taipei.
